Feels great to be part of such a tremendous organization. I served from 74-78 active duty Security Police in the 91st SPS, Minot, AFB. "aircraft security". Then did two years active with the 180th ANG, Toledo, OH. -Security Police.
Loved my time in the Air Force. I will be returning to Lackland AFB for the first time since I graduated from Security Police Tech school (42 years ago). One of my Eagle Scouts is graduating from Basic and invited me to his graduation. Have to say, I'm really excited to be going back and can't wait to see how the place has changed.
Can anyone tell me where the Security Forces museum has landed ... I would love to see it or what is left of it while I'm back at Lackland.

Thanks

Hal -- great to have you as a AFSFA member. Thanks for joining and I know your eyes will be opened wide when you see all the changes that have taken place at Lackland. The SF Museum is still at Lackland and located on the Basic Training (West) side of Hwy 90 which splits the base. They are open 4 days a week and the hours are posted at the front door. One of our members is a docent there, Ken Neal, and will be happy to show you around. Enjoy your time here in San Antonio ... our HQ is here a feel free to stop by and say howdy ...

I did in fact return to Lackland for one of my former Scouts Basic training graduation. Wow, how the place has changed in 42 years. I took my wife who had never been to a military base in her life and she was really impressed with both the base and the graduation ceremony. We did go to the Security Forces museum and met with Ken. I told him you had given me his name and he is quite the guy. We loved the museum, and it brought back many good memories. As it would be, Ken asked me to assisted with retreat of the colors... Myself and three new Airmen (all 3 Airmen were slated to start Security Force tech school the following week) assisted in retreat. Ken then presented us each with a challenge coin that he personally had made.
An additional highlight was the fact that we had lodging on base and our hotel was right next to the Security Forces tech school dormitories. I was was able to walk over and speak with several of the Airman that are currently going through training. It was a AWSOME trip and thanks so much for bringing me up to speed on Ken & the museum.

Service before self.
