Chairman John Lynch called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. in 627 SFS conference room, McChord Field, JBLM, WA. with six members and one guest present.
Treasurer’s Report: Tom Booth gave the report: previous balance of $632.91; cash deposit of $40.00; expenditures: none; ending balance: $672.91.
Business Discussed: Chairman John Lynch gave a report on the visit of John Probst, AFSFA Executive Director, Jerry Bullock, Executive Director Emeritus, and Lucille Bullock, AFSFA Secretary, to SeaTac to select facilities for the 2014 AFSFA Annual Conference.

The DoubleTree Hotel at 16500 Southcenter Pkwy, Tukwila, WA, was selected as the 2014 conference site. The Boeing Museum of Flight was selected as the general membership tour. The tour arrangement is for four hours with refreshments. The spouse/guests tour selection will be our decision. Discussion followed on other chapter tasks for the 2014 conference including: color guards; hospitality suite; memorial golf tournament; social/banquet entertainment; vendors; transportation; publicity; special guests/local leaders welcome and guest speakers; and registration welcome package ideas. Jim Fullwood briefed members on some agenda activities from the 2013 AFSFA Conference in Tampa, Florida: The DVD prepared by Seattle Southside Visitors Center received great enthusiasm and invited inquiries of Northwest shopping and tourist attractions; Brig Gen Jamerson reported 90% of feedback favored keeping the security forces shield design unchanged. Evolving USAF organization and force structure may trickle down and affect the security force structure at local billets.
New AFSFA chapters include South Georgia, Colorado, Hawaii, and Joint LA, increasing chapter total to 21; John Probst received outstanding rental support for the new AFSFA HQ building located at Summit III, NW side of San Antonio (Loop I-410). Building photos looked great. At the Security Forces Museum there’s a new Vietnam display, while updating and modernizing other displays. A historical timeline document developed by MacDill AFB security forces squadron will be displayed eventually at the museum. Jerry Bullock has a new book out on Amazon.com called Life’s Like That (excellent storyteller). The consensus on the name change for Tiger Flight magazine appears to be “Defender” Journal (more to follow). AFSFA is considering having a joint Annual Conference with the Vietnam Security Police Association (possibly at five-year intervals). Members inducted into the 2013 AFSFA Hall of Fame were Ed Johnson, Lee Chambers, and Ted Whitlock. After Jim Fullwood’s recounting the highlights of the annual meeting, SSgt Aaron Ransom of 627 SFS 5-6 Club briefed and requested our membership support for a squadron Heritage Room display project which is to include a Memorial Wall, Fallen Wall Statue, and Relaxation Zone. Members voted to donate $200.00 to their 5-6 Club in support of this project. Ron Blatman and Jim Fullwood volunteered to attend their next meeting and assess additional support needed. Jim Fullwood requested a RSVP on the upcoming December (14th) dinner meeting at EQC Hotel (Fife, WA) so that he can finalize the dinner contract. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 2:00 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2013, 1:00 p.m. in the AMVETS Post #1 recreation room, 5717 South Tyler Street, Tacoma, WA.
