Seventeen members of our Chapter and one guest met at VFW Post 5951for our regular scheduled meeting. Chairman Webb welcomed all attendees and led in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. A moment of silence was held for our recently departed member, Harold Hasch. Harold passed away one month after his brother, Frank Hasch (also a member of our Chapter), died. Copies of the minutes of the previous meeting were presented to attendees and since there were no corrections, they were approved as presented. Garry Jefferson provided the treasurer's report: a total of $2237.06 after making a $312.00 donation to the AFSFF and $300.00 to the 2 SFS to help pay expenses for the Thanksgiving luncheon. Mel Yarnell reported that as a member of the Chapter Mentor Program, he visited the 2 SFS troops on post a few weeks ago and continues

to be amazed at the knowledge and duty performance of the young Airmen these days. Mel also reported that he had been asked to bring up a recommendation to change the time and possibly the date of our regular meeting. After some discussion, the majority of attendees believed our current meeting time and date would best benefit both active duty and retired members and should not be changed. Fred Reiling reported that in addition to the Mentor Program, three volunteers will be making a cookies, coffee, hot chocolate run during the Christmas holidays and serve the troops on post. MSgt Geer reported that in addition to the 2 SFS Thanksgiving luncheon being held on 21 Nov 13, the Squadron Christmas Party will be held at the Officers Club beginning at 1800 hours, December 25, 2013. Cost of tickets to attend is $25.00 per person and there are a limited number of tickets available. Chapter members are invited but tickets will be sold on a "first come - first served" basis. She also reported that the North Gate of Barksdale AFB will be closed for approximately 5 months beginning on 1 Dec 13 while undergoing construction. It is not known at this time if other gates will be open 24/7 during this period of construction. Chairman Webb approached the subject of the traditional Chapter Christmas dinner held each year at Kelly's Restaurant in Haughton. Steve North was appointed to contact Kelly's and determine a date that would be available for reservations of Chapter members. All Chapter members will be advised of the time and date when the reservation is confirmed. Gilbert Little reported that December is our quarterly month to bring nonperishable foods for one of our four charities. The secretary will remind members of this event a week or so before our December 14th meeting. Col Schneider, HQ AFGSC, provided attendees an up-to-date briefing on their goals and objectives and pending technology that may help them to attain those goals. The briefing was very informative, especially to the retirees, Election of Chapter officers was conducted according to instructions contained in copies of the minutes of the previous meeting.
